PERFORMER

Singer-songwriter and actress.

As the daughter of storyteller and director Yossi Alfi, Sari practically grew up on stage. She began her acting career at an early age, performing in the youth ensemble of the Israeli national theatre as a singer and actress. Sari has since played numerous roles in Israeli television and cinema.

Sari's debut album, self-written and composed echoes her life story. As a daughter of Iraqi and British parents who immigrated to Israel, Sari's diverse origins are greatly manifested in her music. Her music transcends borders, generations, and cultures.

Sari has performed in Europe, featuring superb musicians from around the world. Her music brings together musicians of various origins to speak the language of music.

YAMIM HAMIM

'Yamim Hamim' ('Warm Days'), is Sari's unique and innovative Electro-Iraqi music project. It is an oriental-electronic fusion of traditional Iraqi music with edgy electronic beats. Sari writes and composes her music, inspired by Iraqi traditional songs sang to her by her father and grandmother. Sari's lyrics of Hebrew, Arabic and English are both intimate and universal, as she talks of forbidden love, desires, obsessions, and the shadows we cast upon ourselves as individuals and as peoples.

Sari's performance is uplifting, moving and inspiring, as she brings to the stage the joyful sound of Middle-Eastern music in a contemporary invigorating sound. Beside her on stage, talented musicians on keyboard, guitar and an electronic set as well as an oriental band of traditional Middle-Eastern instruments: oud, violin, darbuka and percussions.

It has been a while since I came across such an accurate, bold and uncompromising album like Sari's "Yamim Hamim".

It is a different and intriguing album that draws the listener to enjoy time after time.

Shahar Amano, Yediot Aharonot

In an album that is of musical innovation, Sari takes the rich and diverse musical elements of Israel, which only existed in the sidelines of the music scene, and turns them into a desired mainstream product.

Dudi Patimer, Nana10

special combination of Hebrew and Arabic, rock and electronic and a lot of soul and oriental sounds. Everything sounds very authentic yet new… It is so exciting to come across such music and fall in love with it.
